View Full Version : The Streets - keeping it real

"Mike Skinner's been talking about how he made the new Streets album.
He says he got his mates to chip in on 'A Grand Don't Come For Free' as it made it more real but he does think that he's a little misunderstood when it comes to his music:
"Vocally I think it's good to have a variety. You can get a lot more character out of real people rather than session singers."
"I spend a lot of time writing. I think there's like a perception that I'm just a p***head who makes p***head music. And I do make p***head music but I think about it a lot."
"All you can do is make it to the best of your ability - performing and doing the videos. And really after that what I've come to realise is that what it comes down to is whether people want to buy it. Whether they actually give a f*** about it.
'A Grand Don't Come For Free' is out on 10 May."

I found out today that it doesn't come out in the US until May 18 - bummer! My boyfriend is in the UK now so I'm going to have buy him it for us (now listening to let's push things forward).

true, but it's way cooler to have the import version anyway, esp. on vinyl.

Yeah, but I call it a turntable! ;)
I have a ton of records. Don't listen to them much anymore since I have iTunes now. One day I'll convert them to mp3s.
Yes, I'm old.

haha! I don't have Zep on vinyl, just on cassette tape. I wasn't that into them when I was collecting records. I have mostly 60s, 80s, and 90s stuff.
Got the new Streets by the way - I'm going to listen to it during my lunch break.

I wish. Nope, I have it on my iPod. So far I like it (listened to 3 songs). Not as great as their first, but I didn't expect it to be.
