Since im a beginner, i still havent mastered getting up on my board after putting my bindings on. Ive been in lessons since early December and they havent helped me one bit, althought i can now get up on my toe edge, this doesnt really help me since my turning isnt so great.
Is there any way that i can fix that, even when im not on the slopes...also does any one have any tips on perfecting my turning??
Thanks a bunch,

the only way to get better is practice... on the slopes. For turning, keep your weight forward because if you lean back it is harder to swing your tail around for turns.

You may need to find a really good instructor and take a couple of hours of private lessons. My first day group instructor sucked - I didn't realize it until the 2nd and 3rd day when I had two excellent instructors. I got one guy's card and signed up for three hours w/ him w/ my friend - best money I've ever spent.
The best advice (for me) was to keep my weight towards my front leg and make sure my shoulders are in line w/ the tip and tail (ie do not twist your body to turn - only use your head). Also, I've found that the faster I go, the easier it is to turn (and my falls don't hurt as much).

I felt the pain of not being able to get up two days ago when I started... I ran into a trashcan trying it lol. So to fix it, i started out sitting on the hill with my heel side in the snow. Got up really slow at first, putting most of my weight on my hands, just getting a feel for how angled my board needed to be, sort of letting it skid down the hill. When i got the feel for it, i just got up and started out doing a few heel side turns. The more you do it, the easier it will get, and you wont even have to think about it.

Getting up off your stomach is uber easy. I'll even flip around to get up that way. Also, wrist braces help a ton.

well I instruct snowboarding in my spare time
turning eh? basic turns I'm assuming
knees bent, wieght should be on the front foot mostly, and leaning slgihtly into the turn, also using your arms to point in the direction that you want to turn in helps a ton too (because you body will want to naturally want to follow your upper body) and keep your edge that is facing downhill off of the snow (face-edge in snoww = faceplant :p )
hope that helps
To get up on your heel edge, try grabbing the board inbetween your bindings with one hand and pulling up while you push off the snow with your other hand. If that doesn't work try pushing some snow downhill until you create a small shelf. You can then use that shelf to stand on. If you have any questions let me know I can explain it in greater detail.
