Ullr said "Let there be snow"
And there was snow.

And the Snow was formless and drifted on the aether.

And that evening Ullr and Skadi retired and expressed their affection.
And later Skadi whispered in Ullr's ear, saying what is the use of Snow
that is formless and drifts on the aether when there is no way to reach
the snow?

And in the morning Ullr said "Let there be Land."

And the Land was flat and the Snow was still formless and drifted on the
aether.

And that evening Ullr and Skadi retired and expressed their affection.
And later Skadi whispered in Ullr's ear, saying what is the use of Snow
that is formless and drifts on the aether?

And in the morning Ullr said "Let there be Gravity."

And the Land was flat and the Snow drifted out from the aether and and
lay upon the land.

And that evening Ullr and Skadi retired and expressed their affection.
And later Skadi whispered in Ullr's ear, saying what is the use of Snow
that merely lays upon the land.

And in the morning Ullr said "Let there be Mountains."

And the Land formed majestic Mountains, and the Snow lay upon the Mountains.

And that evening Ullr and Skadi retired and expressed their affection.
And later Skadi whispered in Ullr's ear, saying what is the use of Snow
that lays upon the Mountains.

And in the morning Ullr said "Let there be Skiing."

And lo, skiers came and performed aetheric gravity dances in the Snow
that lay upon the Mountains, and worshipped at the feet of Ullr and Skadi.

And that evening Ullr and Skadi retired and expressed their affection.
And that evening the skiers also retired and expressed their
thankfulness and offered libations to Ullr and Skadi, and rested in
anticipation of the morning.

And all was well.

....don't know where the translation comes from, but I consider it fair
use to quote such a small portion of the well known 105,000 line ancient
Scandinavian skier's epic "Song of Life."

I thought it was, "Hey, hold my beer and watch this."

6 degrees here last night. 6 F. But no snow except what's blowing out
of the guns.

... and they named the wet spot "Midland."

We're actually getting snow in parts of west and north Texas today.
It's so flat that there you can't even tele, but you can count on at
least a few rednecks roping an innertube onto the bumper of their
pickup truck (or nowadays, Acura SUV) and playing "Hey bubba! Watch
THIS!!"
