halfpipe spins?

hey all, was watching the x games and checking out other vids on spins in the halfpipe and was wondering about the spins. off a jump or kicker a 360 would be just that.....a 360. but when watching in the halfpipe it looked like a 360 spin would be a 540....at least thats what it looked like.maybe I'm seeing wrong but i've been watching over and over and the 1080s that autti and kass were pulling looked like 2 1/2 rotations rather than 3 full ones. maybe you guys can help out what I'm not seeing. thanks (i'll check out some more vids....:p).

Well when they are at the top of the lip, their bodies are already pivoting into the spin, so the board is lined up with how they will land give or take 10 degrees. So in the air they infact do 3 full rotations in order to realign with that starting angle... do you understand what i'm saying?

sorry....still don't see it.when i look at the vids....like the 1080s, they start with their back facing me and when they land, then their front is facing me. :confused: whether its their body or board, they're still facing the opposite way than they would going off a kicker. anyone else out there has some time, check out some vids and compare the pipe to kickers (jumps) on their rotations. see if maybe you guys are seeing the same thing I am. still learning....so give me some time...lol :p.

Well, you can kinda see what East is talking about in his sig. The guy is on the rail and has pre-rotated to pop off the rail, or so it looks. Maybe he's just twisted around to look behind him in general, but I doubt it.

Anyways, when I try spins just start turning your upper body before hand and then pop off the lip and spin, your lower body will come around with it.

Thats what I do off kickers anyways, I dunno if its the same for pipe.

ya, he kinda looks tweaked on the rail. still not much luck on the spins tho.....kept looking again on the vids (them bastards make it look easy....lol :p) but still don't see much of their bodies being that much off from their board.they look like they do a little bit of a prewind....but not much. if ya wanna take a look i checked them out on xgames.com in their video archive area. just not on their 1080s but also any 9s, 7s or 5s they pulled off. still WAY off from even doing anything half that good, considering that I haven't had the chance to try out a pipe and just into my second season. just found something kinda weird to figure out.
