The only reason to go would be because it's cheap. I have a friend who went and he said it sucked. The hotel was crap, the food was crap, the lift infrastructure was crap, the snow was ok.

Your mileage may vary. Check out the reviews here (see the best of and worst of links too):

I guess it depends where you are coming from and how much you have to spend. France has some pretty cheap skiing. Andorra is supposed to be cheap as well. I think I would play it safe and pay a little more. In France, check out Flaine. Huge resort, super cheap, close to Geneva.

It is cheap, not just for hotels but when you get out there and its a amazing fun. The people are ace, the beer is cheap 50p a pint ($0.70 1/2 litre), and the women attractive.

The pistes are narrow and the snow isn't all that reliable but I've never known it to be a problem where you can't board. I've been there twice and the only reason I wouldn't go back is because I've outgrown the place, its for beginners and intermediates (not that I'm an expert but I need black runs and a park to keep me entertained.)
